The Japan Hydrographic Association (hereinafter referred to as "the Association") is functioning to utilize results of hydrographic surveys and oceanographic observations so as to contribute to the safety of navigation, prevention of shipping casualties and preservation of marine environments.
In fulfilling such functions, the Association recognizes that the proper treatment of personal information is an indispensable obligation.
For this purpose, the Association, based on "Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Law No.57, 2003)" and "Guideline for Protection of Personal Information in the Sphere of Jurisdiction of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT Notification No.1500 of 2004)", is dealing with the personal information properly and securely according to the following policy:
In acquiring personal information, the Association will clarify the purpose of usage of the information to the person concerned, and after obtaining his consent, the Association will collect the information, and will use it within the limits necessary for attaining the purpose of its usage.
The Association will use the personal information for the following purposes:
Except for the case otherwise provided by the law, the Association will never disclose or offer the personal information to the third party without obtaining the prior consent of the person possessing the information.
The Association will stipulate its own rules and regulations regarding personal information, and will conduct protection and strict management of such information.
The Association will nominate certain personnel responsible for protecting and dealing with personal information, and will clarify the system of the responsibility. The Association will properly manage the personal information and provide necessary prevention and correction procedures so that the personal information possessed by the Association should not be lost, destroyed, falsified or leaked by illegal access, robbery, taking out, etc. Also, the Association will encode the internet communication of personal information offered by its web site with using the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technique.
